The Arnold Fire and Rescue Department received a new John Deere Gator ATV on Friday, April 8, at the Arnold Fire Hall. The fully equipped Gator can be used for fighting grass fires and to provide ambulance services in difficult terrain. The Gator’s cost of more than $21,500 was donated entirely from proceeds generated at the 2011 SORC Winter Party Auction. Since its beginning in 2001, SORC has donated more than $350,000 to local fire departments, various community improvement projects, and the construction of the Arnold Community Center.
SORC board members and Arnold Volunteer Fire Department members gathered to promote the new fire and rescue Gator. Pictured are: (front, l-r) Shane Cool, Robbi Smith, Don Olson, Brock Dailey, Shelley Smith, Gregg Tickle, Josh Cool; (back, l-r) Billy Hendricks of Custer County Implement of Broken Bow, Randy Connell, Dave Smith, Don Schmidt, Aaron Olson, and Bruce Younglove. Seated in the gator is Dell Cerney.
